Well I may not be keeping up with this blog too well now that I'm officially on summer break, but I have been exercising! With my mom, who is a great motivator!
Let's see if I can remember...
Two days ago I ran (on the treadmill... the heat index was like 105. Gotta love that Georgia weather!) and we did a half hour interval workout my mom got out of Fitness magazine or something. It was awesome so I'm working on incorporating it into my Total Body Circuit class for the fall :)
Yesterday was random workout day(aka Harry Potter Premier Day!!) I did 20 minutes of a step workout that is almost as old as me. Didn't care for it too much... there is lots of fancy footwork that is kind of fun once you figure it out, but it doesn't seem to do too much as far as getting your HR up and workin' those muscles! So I ran on the treadmill a for about 15 minutes, but I was really sore from the day before. So I did a Biggest Loser yoga video. Like I said, random. But my body just wasn't feelin' running yesterday. Gotta listen to your body.
HOPEFULLY, if it stops raining before it gets dark, we're going running! Out on the road! YAY! We finally got a cool enough day... the rain is helping with that.
Lastly, HARRY POTTER was SO AWESOME! I know this has nothing to do with running but I do not care. I love Harry Potter. From the previews I thought they had changed the ending a lot, but they didn't so I was really pleased. Mostly they just put in a few scenes that I thought added to the story (Snape holding Lily's body and crying. Yeah. I cried too, Snape.) I'm so sad it's over now though. I grew up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The actors are my age. Bright side: Now I can buy a box set of the movies. Because buying a set of 1-6 just seems ridiculous...

Blogging is hard.
I keep forgetting to write on my blog! Good thing only one person I know of reads it...
Yesterday- Ran about a half mile to warm up then did some speed work on a big hill. Ran up it 6 times, which was a lot less than I was originally planning, but it was hard! Trying for 8 next time. I hope doing hill work will make my long runs easier, because everywhere I can run close to my apartment is extremely hilly, which makes me feel really slow. And that does not make it easy to get up at 6:30 to run.
Tomorrow is one, maybe two aerobics classes. I'm excited about maybe teaching step (but I still hope you feel better Courtney!)
Next week I'm going home, and my mom and I are going to run the same course from my first race, hoping to get a faster time. Some solid evidence of progress would really motivate me right now. (It's only been like 2 or 3 weeks. I'm very impatient.)

Lazy weekend
Happy 4th! (A day late, but that's ok)
This weekend has been a lazy weekend. Didn't drag my butt out of bed once to go run in the morning. Which explains the pace intervals on the track on Saturday. But I'm trying to stay positive in my training, so next time I'm feeling lazy I can remember this weekend and how I wish I had just gotten up and run. And hopefully I'll do it.
This morning I did run though! Definitely felt it after not running much in the past few days. I did my 3 mile loop backwards... and there are a lot more uphills going that way! And they're steeper and longer! Surprise!
Backwards loop, I dub you "really hard, really hilly 3-miler"

Rough running day
Two days off thanks to an insane blister.
I don't like running on a track. But that's what it comes down to when it is July in Georgia and I decide to ignore my alarm clock in the morning... it's been a lazy couple of days. So today was 2.75 miles of pace intervals on the track. It definitely went better than last week but tracks are so rough on your joints. The breathing trick really helped me work through the faster intervals, especially since I added in a few 400's instead of just doing 200's. Deep, deep breaths, 2 in, 2 out...
Tomorrow is 3.5 miles, nice and easy
